The two videos in this unit displayed the effect a teacher’s attitude can have in the classroom. When teaching I must remember that negative gestures, even as small as not smiling, can make students feel uncomfortable in the classroom. I must remember to not assume previous knowledge and explain things clearly. In the first video, lessons for both the worksheet and the game were not explained thoroughly and therefore did not run smoothly. However, in the second video the teacher took the time to explain both the worksheet and bingo game therefore ensuring the students’ understanding. Also, in the first video the teacher would explicitly say if the student got the answer wrong potentially discouraging them to answer again and other students to answer at all. The teacher’s method of eliciting answers in the second video was much more effective and welcoming to students.
