In this chapter, I have learned about the 46 groups when teaching English and the ways to approach them. The 4 groups are Beginner, 1 on 1, Business/Company, Monolingual, Multilingual and Children. In a beginner class, there may be a mix of different types of beginner students such as absolute beginner (does not have any knowledge of English) and false beginners (have studied/approach English before but have not retained it). In a beginner class, it is important to not go through the lesson too fast as there may be students which are unable to keep up with the lack of experience and teachers should give choral repetition and ask a lot of questions to engage students. Next is individual students. When teaching individual students, teachers are encouraged to give them an analysis survey to get to know what does the student expects and would like to achieve with the lessons. There are several activities which are suitable in teaching individual students such as reading articles and newspapers but there are activities which are normally done in classes which are unable to be done in individual lessons such as class activities. Next is English for business classes which is normally associated with companies. Teachers may have to go to a company to teach employees English which they may use it for presentations or an announcement of a new product. First, it is important to know what the company needs by letting them complete a needs survey. It will aid in what do they expect and what to they want to learn from the lessons. Also there are a few notes to take when teaching a company group. For example, as it is a company, attendance of an individual may not be as good as there may be meetings to attend or other work to do, also teachers should take note of the pace of the lessons as the students are working employees, they may be more tired compare to a group of normal students with their work. Following is multilingual and monolingual classes. There are advantages and disadvantages to both of the classes. In multilingual classes, the only common language for them is English so it promotes conversations and communications in English only while in monolingual classes, as students are able to speak the same language, they might be hesitant to speak English to each other at certain times. Lastly is children. In a children class, children tend to be more active and will get bored of a certain activity very fast so as a teacher, the teacher would be advised to give short but many activities to maintain the interest of the students.
