This unit covered the various special groups that one can encounter in the ESL field. The range is from individual students to a more formalized setting like business. Teaching children comes with its own set of variables like class size, age, institution, and goals. Individual students in my experienced are often the most motivated to learn English because they have often sought out one on one lessons beyond that of English school for kids where in the parents choose to send their kids to language classes or possibly even business classes where the company has a training requirement. The needs analysis section was very interesting because it gives the group a kind of assessment for the teacher to use a reference point for identifying overarching goals and tailor the lesson to those needs. I think with all classroom settings it is important for teachers to know the flow, pace, and needs of the class in order to get the most productive and interesting classes.
