This unit talks about the different kinds of learner groups that a teacher may encounter, in particular beginners, individual students, young learners, business English learners, and multinational groups. I have learnt that a teacher needs to adapt to each situation and take into the account particular aspects of each kind of groups. For example, young learners get bored more quickly, therefore they require more activities that span over a shorter time period, as well as more encouragement and praise from the teacher to boost their confidence. Teaching individual students on the other hand cannot happen so much through activities, for obvious reasons, but through a conversation, study of articles, etc. in general adapting to particular needs of that student. Business English groups requires needs analysis, which is quite different from young learners groups.
