Many problems can arise in an English class but most often these problems can be solved if I am prepared. One problem could be that students arrive to class tired and unmotivated. Warmers like pictionary can be a fun way to get the students in the mood to use their English. There can also be times when a class has students of different levels, and this can make it difficult to set a pace for the class. Students that finish sooner can work on 'filler' activities to avoid getting bored and students can be grouped together based on their understanding of English, possibly with group leaders. Students can be paired with a stronger student to help a weaker student or students can be given either different materials or harder/easier tasks with the same materials. Large classes can be noisy and lose focus easily, so the students can be put in groups or pairs to maximize student involvement. Students may feel uncomfortable or insecure and want to resort to using their native language but as the teacher I must encourage them to try to communicate in English, focusing more on fluency than accuracy if necessary. I should speak clearly and only respond to English and this will push my students to try harder.
