I personally don't like testing students. In my career I have found out that when I schedule a test, the students are usually nervous and this can influence in their success. I usually apply progress tests and sometimes they do not even notice they are being tested. Comparing the results with the required school test, progress tests always have a better success rate. But I think tests are important. They shouldn't be used to scare the students, but to help them.
