This unit focuses on productive skills: speaking and writing. This unit looks at the importance of spelling, handwriting, and punctuation in writing English, and the importance of accuracy and fluency in speaking English. There are various activities that can be used to focus on each of these issues which should be addressed in particular phases of the lesson. For example, issues involving accuracy should be covered in the Study phase while issues concerning fluency should be covered in the Activate phase. I have learned that it is necessary for teachers to adapt their lessons to meet the specific needs of their students, such as their language level, age, culture, and native language. I learned that as a teacher of English I must consider the differences and similarities of writing and speaking in English before planning productive skill lessons.
