Unit eleven outlines the importance of teaching students the receptive skills: reading and listening. When it comes to learn a new language receptive skills together with the productive skills (speaking and writing) play a very important role and the teacher should try to incorporate all of them into lessons. Reasons for reading/ listening, skills employed when reading/ listening along with the problems arising with the two activities and things we need (as teachers) to be aware of when selecting a text are discussed in this unit.
