In this unit we learned about conditionals and reported speech, both of which are aspects of English grammar that I had previously paid no thought. Thinking through the different ways in which "if" statements can be used in English was fascinating, as it allowed me to think about some of the structure that and English language learner might have difficulty with. Additionally, there are a lot of grammatical rules for reporting speech, particularly with respect to tense and sense of time, that could in fact pose a bit of a challenge to teach. These are important things to have a grasp on before entering a classroom setting.
