The illustration of language as a tree, with grammar being its trunk and branches and vocabulary and functions as its beauty was a very helpful picture for me. This was particularly helpful because I naturally find grammar more difficult to understand and therefore like to focus more on vocabulary and functions; however I can now better see how grammar acts as a necessary skeleton for the leaves and fruit of the tree. This unit has helped me better see that each has its necessary place in language learning.
