Reading, listening, speaking and writing are the four basic skill when learning any language. In this Unit, we focused on receptive skills which are reading and listening. The reason we read and listen can be divided into two main purposes, for a purpose or for entertainment. When we read and listen, not only we need to use our eyes and ears but to also use our mind to gain true understanding. When teaching receptive skills, there may be language difficulties but there are also ways to approach these problems, for example, Pre-teaching vocabulary, to choose topics, texts content and tasks carefully and so on.
