While, at its core, the idea of testing can be intimidating to some students, they are actually very useful tools for students and teachers alike int he learning process. They can be used to track progress, which can actually become a huge confidence booster for students, especially when they see how much they have leaned over the length of a particular course. For the teacher, they can be invaluable as far as making sure the lessons that are being put forth are actually resonating on the students. Course materials and lesson plans can be altered if need be, and as teachers we can only know if this is needed by periodic testing.
