Speaking and writting are both productive skills. They are both substantially different in many ways but both are used for the same purpose to communicate. Writting is the most neglected skill in the classroom, often regarded to homework which in turn is frequently not done so the skill is never developed. Speaking on the other hand requires greater degree of fluency as the speaker will rarely have time to think and plan the answer. Teachers must create the need and desires in the students to communicate. Accuracy- are concentratedin producing correct language. Fluency- concentrated on allowing students to experiment and be creative with the language. In writting we must consider our handwritting/penmanship, punctuation and spelling.
