I agree that presenting writing or speaking activities provides separate challenges for the teacher in motivating students to engage and remain motivated throughout the process. I like the process of choral response for practicing pronunciation because it creates the safety of anonymity while following that with calling out individuals allows the teacher to be selective in choosing students who will represent the proper pronunciation while protecting the dignity of those students known to be still struggling. Writing and speaking activities present different opportunities for students to practice the expressive language skills and it is important for the teacher to understand how to prepare for presenting the various activities that will address the differing skill sets and abilities for the students.
