Unit 17: Modals, phrasal verbs and passive verbs. Modals: there are 9 true auxiliary verbs, will, would, might, may, must, should, shall, can and could. The 11 major usages of the modal auxiliary verbs are: ability, advice, deduction, obligation, offer, permission, possibility, prediction, prohibition, promise and request. Phrasal verbs: type 1-Intransitive, type 2-Transitive separable and type 3-Transitive inseparable. Active and Passive voice usages: unknown agent, unimportant agent, change focus and concealing the agent.
