In this unit I learned about modal and passive voice. Modals I think will be very helpful to teach students ways in which to make sentences more formal as there is such a large formality gap between the modals "can" and "may" for example. I also learned that modals can express the degree of certainty, obligation, permission, ability, and advice. I also learned that a sentence in both the active and passive voice essentially have the same meaning, but the in the active voice the focus is on the agent and in the passive voice the agent is much less important.
