In this unit I learned about lesson planning. Lesson plans have three main functions: to assist the teacher in planning the lesson, as a reference document while conducting a lesson, and as a record of what you have covered and materials you have used in the class. It is best to keep lesson plans simple and flexible and to stay organized--arrive early, check equipment, lay out the seating arrangements and materials, etc. It is recommended that the following is contained in the lesson plan: objectives for student learning, personal objectives, a lesson theme, teaching aids, potential problems, class activities, phases (ESA), timing, TS versus SS interaction, and finally it is good mark down the class level, size, date, time, and those monitoring the lesson (if relevant). When planning a sequence of lessons, it is important to be flexible, state your goals, and make sure that the sequence of contains a good variety of learning activities. Following a lesson, it is also important to fill in an evaluation form to learn from how the lesson went and how to improve one's teaching the future.
