Testing is an important part of teaching because it helps both the students and the teacher understand how the students are doing. These help place the students in the right class and help the teacher know what skills the students bring to the classroom, and which skills they lack. These tests check students' grammar, vocabulary, and fluency. Throughout the school year, teachers can use progress tests to see how the students are maintaining English. These tests look at reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Practice tests are also an important tool if students are preparing for an External Exam, which will test their language skills for a specific circumstance.
