This unit was an overview of the present tenses—particularly the present simple, present continuous, present perfect and the present perfect continuous. As a native speaker and from past university English courses, I was aware of the different present tenses and their different forms. However, this unit was a helpful reminder since I learned the different usages of each tense. It was helpful seeing each usage explicitly listed and I learned how to better explain why certain verb tenses are better in certain contexts than others. For lower levels, this may not be too relevant as verb tenses and this level of grammar may be too high level for children—however, I find that this would be incredibly helpful for advanced high school and adult English learners who are learning the nuances of the language. I also learned helpful activities that could be used in the classroom to teach these concepts, such as “What have you done today” and other Activate activities.
