This Unit summarized the various teaching strategies that are available such as translation, audio, task based etc as well ask the weaknesses of each. During my work I tend to employ more of the PPP approach. The English levels of my students are of a lower level as it is more of a technical school instead of academic. I find it very effective but as the text notes, it sometimes lacks a good deal of flexibility. The text also introduces the use of ESA (Engage, Study and Activate) and the various sequences such as straight arrow, boomerang and patchwork.
I found the activities the text provided for each stage in ESA to be quite helpful and easy to implement in class.
Finally, correction techniques were discussed as well as the proper ways to use them in a classroom to produce effective learning.
