In this unit, there were two videos showing examples of effective and ineffective classroom teaching. In the first video, we saw a class where the students had difficulties getting engaged and took a long time to get warmed up. In the second video, the teacher was much more friendly and clear in his instructions, and the students responded accordingly. It was useful to see how differently students interact and participate in a class depending largely on the attitude of the teacher. In the first class, the teacher was brusque and dismissive, and the students could sense that, while in the second class, he was engaging, friendly and patient, which created a positive environment for the students to learn in.
