This chapter focused on the two productive sills which are writing and speaking. Often in ESL classrooms writing is overlooked as it does not revolve around speaking and speaking although very important and requires a greater sense of fluency of the language, writing leads to a greater understanding of rhythm and helps students organize their ideas in the written form. In my own personal experience here in Japan, writing is something that is done with the native Japanese teacher as it does not require the same level of support that a native English speaker can provide for oral based lessons. Often I see in my students' work there are many mechanical problems in relation to flow, spelling, and organization. These mistakes are not as often made when speaking as the text also said that these kinds of mistakes can be fixed on the spot which writing does not have the same luxury.
