In this unit, I studied about teaching productive skills: speaking and writing. Both of them are for the communicative purpose. We started with speaking part by talking about differences between accuracy and fluency activities. Accuracy and fluency are equally important. Then we analyzed speaking activities in the classroom. Some of them are accuracy based activities and some are fluency based activities. We need to choose them wisely. Also, we talked about reasons for students being reluctant to speak, how to encourage them to speak. A typical creative speaking activity lesson is shown to us too. From this, we come to the inclusion that what we need to prepare before the lesson, during the activity and after the activity to in order to produce a creative speaking class.
About the writing skills part, we talked about different factors that need to be considered, such as handwriting, spelling, layout, punctuation and creative writing. A typical creative writing activity lesson is shown to us too. Besides, games are also discussed in this unit. We are given many good game websites for future usage.
It's a very beneficial class !
