This introductory unit offered a great summary of what makes a great teacher and what makes a great student. Great teachers are caring, motivating, attentive to detail, organized and enthusiastic. They can be models, participants, and disciplinarians and will need to take on many different roles when teaching in order to keep a motivated and efficient classroom. Different students have different needs and these need to be observed and teachers should modify their teaching styles depending on their students. Some students will need extra help, and some will be motivated and willing to try new things. Adults and children are different types of learners and thus their paths to learning a new language will need to be different. There are also different levels of learning which require different materials and different teaching approaches. I learned the many roles and qualities of a good teacher, as well as the differences among students in this lesson.
