Teaching SGs is as demanding as teaching in an ordinary classroom is. One cannot go to class without preparing. However, there are advantages that can used to the benefit of all (student and the teacher). For example let say you are teaching a group of receptionists-the content and focus of your lessons would be clear also the group of learners that you teach would be a very specific group in that they would have already decided to be receptionists unlike a general group of students for general and not specific purposes. Teaching special groups has its own ups and downs, challenges and requirements, do's and don'ts and should not be taken for granted. Identifying students' needs is indeed crucial when teaching special groups. Lastly one cannot teach different groups (young vs adult or beginners vs advanced learners) in the same way.
