This unit focuses on intonation and pronunciation within English. It deals with the different teaching methods to teach phonology. This chapter was very dense and often I needed to stop and read things aloud. It was interesting to focus on things that are so subtle as a native speaker such as stress endings for questions or statements. I have often found it very difficult to show students where to place their tongue during exercises for difficult sounds in English for my Japanese students such as 'r'. It was interesting to read about the different rises and falls within in English to indicate certain social components of English.
