This unit is about Conditional sentences that contain if or when ( or similar expressions ). The Conditional vary depending on the tenses used in the sentences. The different tenses used depend on the nature of what is being said, for example, if the sentences are wishes, promises, facts. There are five different conditionals.
This unit also covers reported speech. The important thing to remember with reported speech is to backshift the tense. One must also change the pronoun. This was an interesting Unit, as in speaking conversational English as a native English speaker, these rules are not always or usually used. Teaching English as a foreign language is more rigid- as when speaking naturally in context, the native speaker can still be easily understood by other native speakers when not following these same rules.
