This unit deals with a number of ways to assess a student's language level. Tutorials can take place at the end of the week to review what was accomplished and how well the students fared in class. Students may also be asked to evaluate the course through questionnaire and as such, future lessons shall be considered based on students' comments.
The most appropriate way to evaluate students' progress is through the use of different types of tests from the beginning until the end of the course. Placement tests may be given to new students to enable the teacher to place them into the correct class vis-à-vis their respective abilities. Other tests may follow such as: progress, diagnostic and practice tests which have different purposes for evaluating the student's progress of learning.
This unit also describes different types of general external examinations like: TOEFL, IELTS,TOEIC, Cambridge Assessment, etc. for work and/or study purposes.
