This unit dealt with conditionals and the way we say things if and then with logical action and consequence. I found the reported speech section very interesting because there are many cases where as native speakers we say things in the present tense as if there were happening now. For example the phone conversation example if someone asked me later what someone had said I would not always put it as if it were in the past tense. Sometimes we speak as if things are happening now regardless of time because it is a stylistic and personal way of speaking. It is so subtle that it hardly seems worth teaching because these rules are subject to change based on culture and background and setting when English is being actively spoken.
