In teaching pronunciation, it is also vitally important that we teach intonation and stress as well. Incorrect intonation and stress can lead to students’ speech being incomprehensible or to the meaning being misconstrued. Depending on a students’ native language, they may not be familiar with the concept of stress or intonation. Conversely, they may be hyper-aware of it. Teachers may have to adjust accordingly. Teaching glottal sounds is especially difficult because the student cannot use observation to reproduce these sounds.
