Attitude has a vital role in achieving a successful teacher-student engagement. While I was watching both videos, I came to realize the importance of having a positive and clear mindset in the classroom.
The students in the 1st class seems intimidated and confused. The teacher was stiff and did not deliberately expound the lesson resulting to difficulty understanding the concepts. If I were a student in that class, I will always fear the days of coming in for English school.
While watching the 2nd class, my first impression is that the environment is very pleasant, starting the class with an introduction of the teacher's name as well as the students. The teacher uses Engage, Study and Activate methodology which was very effective at every phase. At the end of the lesson, the students were participating very well on the activity.
My realization for this unit is that if you have the right attitude, everything else will follow. The methodologies and theories applied will be effective and the students will be able to comprehend and engage themselves in the lesson.
