In the fifthtenth unit of our ITTT course titled "Evaluation and Testing", we learned about techniques for evaluating student's levels of English proficency through the use of placement tests, progress tests, diagnostic tests, practise tests, and general external examinations. In the first section, we learned about placement tests which are tests that are primarily designed to enable teachers to place new students into the correct classes based on their English language level. In the second section, we learned about progress tests which are periodically used by teachers to help gauge what language has been remembered and what language has been forgotten by the students. In the third section, we learned about diagnostic tests which are similar to placement tests except that they are more extensive and cover more material then diagnostic tests do. In the fourth section, we learned about practice tests which are used to practice for general external examinations which are used by schools to gauge their student's English proficiency level.
