Unit 13 talks about the importance of teaching pronunciation to students. Pronunciation of the language consists of many aspects which are developed largely through increasing familiarity - hearing and using the language more and more frequently. The unit talks of ways in which a non-native speaker (student) may be taught the intonation and stresses involved in pronouncing sentences and even words in an English sentence. The unit also gives us a guide towards understanding the phonetic system of the English language, so that as teachers, we understand phonetics better in order to teach it better.
