This unit summarised teaching special groups including: beginners, individual students, children, and those learning English for business purposes. It outlines tips and tricks for teaching these groups, in addition to guidance for suitable activities and possible problems which might arise. It was useful to think about adaptable teaching styles and allowed me to think more widely than purely teaching groups of children. I found the list of 1.1 activities particularly useful as this allowed me to think about how I might teach and spurred more ideas about how I could formulate lesson plans in a fun and varied way for single students. The unit also reminded me of some common-sense aspects of teaching, that may not always be implemented or adhered to in the classroom - i.e. children's sensitivity to 'unfairness', avoidance of over-correction etc. The section on business english was interesting to learn about, however it is unlikely that I will need this in my future teaching career.
