I learned speaking and writing has many components. For example, accuracy activities are focused on by making correct language. Activities are controlled to confirm accurate imitation of language. Fluency activities focuses on the students to trial, be original and more concerned with success and flow of message. Accuracy and fluency carry alike importance. Speaking activities in the classroom focuses on 3 criterions: (1) controlled activities, (2) guided activities, (3) creative communication. Controlled activities focuses on the accuracy based activities. Drilling is a part of the controlled activities this includes vocal and individual listening to and recurrence of the teacher’s demonstration of pronunciation. Using the 3 by 3 drill method defined as a word or phrase and asking the whole group to repeat using a different name three times. Guided activities are creative and productive. The guided activities examine model dialogues and guided role-play. Also, creative communication is defined as fluency activities. The situation is usually made by the teacher but the information of the language is not made by the teacher. Ways to exemplify this, is by free-role play, discussions, debates, and communication games. In addition, encouraging students for interaction is key, also pairing students, group-work, and allowing certain activities for students to think encourages student interaction. Factors that dissuaded student interaction are cultural sensitive issues, lack of confidence, peer intimidation, and fear of making mistakes. I learned a free and creative speaking activity lesson is focused on by engagement, studying, and activating students.
