This unit covered many aspects of phonology, exploring the phonemic alphabet, stresses and articulation and articulation. The majority of this unit was new for me, having never studied this level of detail during my education. I am starting to familiarise myself with the IPA but will need to continue testing myself and practicing to embed this information. I'd be interested to know when teachers start teaching this aspect in classes and the level of ability of their students. At present, I think I would find it difficult to teach pronunciation to a class at present, so would like to learn more about how this can be applied either throughout lessons or as a specific area of focus during particular lessons. With regards to articulation/stresses, I would be confident in teaching this by using the examples in the unit (i.e. underlining, humming, made up words etc). Overall this was a very useful and interesting unit which I have really enjoyed.
