Unit 19 talks about the different types of student (group) categories, and highlights important differences in their needs and the approaches to be adopted to teach each group. These categories could be based on their familiarity with the English language, or on shared needs created by the group's belonging to a special function or organization. The grouping may also be according to age. In some cases, there may be a 1:1 teaching environment. Each of these situations demands its own lesson plan, needs analysis, strategy to encourage active student participation and response, and even evaluation. The unit touches upon all these aspects for each group and allows us to understand the difference in dynamics of each.
