We learn what is receptive skills and how to do better job for it in English teaching in this unit. We employ a number of specialist skills when reading and listening, such as predictive skills, specific information - scanning, skimming, detailed information and deduction from context skills. There are many ways to help us to smooth the language difficulties, for example pre-teaching vocabulary and careful selection of texts. The interesting topic of the text or dialogue can also be helpful to motivate the students. ESA and ESA Patchwork are very common to be used for teaching receptive skills lesson. Real example with exercises is presented in this unit that I will do similar one in my classroom later.
