This was an interesting unit analyzing the various different components which come together to form the English language. As speakers of English we mostly use all the various parts in something close to the correct order, modifying the forms of the words quite naturally, from years of extensive usage. We don't normally pause to consider the individual parts of the language we are using, and in most circumstances communicate freely without a great deal of thought about sentence structure, confident that our message will be understood. However, an exercise such as this reminds us of some of the challenges those learning English as a second language face, due to some of the inconsistencies in terms of words not following the general rules, sometimes for no obvious reason.
