Assessing and testing students are important to teaching. Most students will want to learn English to go to school or work in English-speaking countries. If students wanted to study abroad they will need to take formal exams like the TOEFL or IELTS. In countries like Korea, the TOEIC exam is popular for gaining employment and promotion purposes. Those who want to start a career in business can also take the BEC exam. They also need tests for immigration purposes. For students who are exam-oriented, they take these tests as a form of assessment or evaluation of their English language skills in addition to the exams being given in their schools. My job as a teacher is to prepare them as much as possible so that they can achieve their dreams.
