This unit was designed to make teachers aware of the advantages and disadvantages of using course books in the classroom. My biggest takeaway from the lesson was not to be too tied to a textbook, no matter how much I like it. The flip side of that insight from the chapter, of course, is that there are many ways to adapt material that I do not like or find useful, but that I don't have a choice but to use. To me, those were the most helpful lessons from this chapter.
