A teacher's demeanor has the ability to encourage students or confuse and dishearten them. There should always be an icebreaker at the beginning of a lesson. A lesson plan can then be followed by an Engage phase in which students begin to feel more comfortable with the materials. At this point, the rest of the lesson is really quite up to the teacher. There should be some Study and Activate time as well. It is critical to remain friendly, calm, and organized in order to keep students' attention. One noteworthy activity that the teacher carried out in the second lesson was that after the first two individuals introduced themselves, he switched sides of the room and began asking students from the other end to reply. This mechanism kept the students on their toes for the remainder of the lesson.
