This subject matter doesn't come easily to me and it's great to be refreshing. I think that repetition is key in learning this content. Repeat, repeat. Sentence after sentence and compare them all to each other to see their very insignificant differences. With enough practice it become easy to identify which is which. Reading out loud is also very effective in understanding these past tenses so you can feel the words come out of your mouth and hear them being spoken, you pick up on cues that you don't when just simply reading.
