This unit, surprisingly, gave me a feeling of anxiety: this is one of the first times where I really thought, "oh wow, I'm on my way to being a teacher!" Something clicked and I realized that being a teacher wasn't just about going through a lesson with your class -- there is a lot of work that is done in and around those lessons, all to make sure that everything runs smoothly and that the students are having the best learning experience possible. More and more I realize and learn that the job of a teacher is not as simple as I once thought. However, this unit helped quell that aforementioned anxiety almost as quickly as it came up, because it gave me examples of lesson plans to look to and clear expectations/outlines of what a lesson plan should contain. Despite not having any idea on how to form a lesson plan before this unit, and feeling very nervous about that, having completed it I have more confidence in my ability to create a plan; I also leave which a greater appreciation for all the work my previous teachers must have put in!
