This was the first unit that presented a much higher difficulty than the units we've covered thus far. For the first time, it wasn't just theory (teaching methods, etc) that I would learn from scratch, and it wasn't just a review of the grammar I had learnt in second grade ("what are nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs?"). Here, I was dealing with material I knew very well, but because I knew it intrinsically, I would have had no idea how to teach it to anyone without having taught it to myself first. If I were to walk into a classroom before learning this unit, I would have been at an entire loss as to how to teach and help the students.
I feel like this is the unit where it starts becoming supremely apparent why I signed up for this course. Learning the theory and how to manage classrooms is most likely something I would have figured out along the way, with the help of my colleagues and head teachers, but this material -- the grammar -- would have left me stumped without the help of this course. It's fairly simple, but now I have the knowledge and the vocabulary to be able to truly understand and teach this material.
