Lesson 4 was a difficult lesson to comprehend on my first reading without mixing up the rules from other tenses. After rereading a few times, I have a better understanding of the different tense forms but also some knowledge of how to explain them.
For my personal understanding I mentally labeled the different forms when thinking about them.
Present = Now/Currently on going.
Simple = Neither past nor future. With exception to specific historical sequences however does not suggest a continuation.
Continuous= Ongoing.
Perfect = Past
While this list may not be 0 accurate in all situations it does help guide my train of thought when applying it to a sentence to determine what type of form I am working with.
Present Perfect Continuous
(He has) (been) (running) base+ing
Simple Present Perfect
I’ve wanted to visit England for years.
This lesson certainly helped refine my understanding of tense forms but will definitely require more practice to master them.
