I have never learned the phonemic alphabet or the physical aspects of sound making so this unit was all very new to me and also quite interesting. I learned about how to teach intonation, stress, and individual sounds, including techniques for teaching each one. I also learned about how the physical aspects of sound are reflected in the phenomic alphabet and how to figure out the sounds from the script, but also how the sound is formed. It was useful in understanding why english can be so challenging for students, since there are so many words that are spelled the same or similarly and have very different sounds.
