This unit discussed different equipment that teachers can use to help them in the classroom. A lot of this unit was pretty intuitive based on my own experiences as a student in various classrooms, but was still very helpful to go over. I am accustomed to classrooms with either a teacher giving a lecture and using the board, or using some pre-made PowerPoint presentation. I am excited to use some of these other tools that the unit brings up like video cameras, OHP’s, and visual aids. I plan to work a lot with visual aids, because they provide an awesome opportunity to introduce students to American culture. I hope to bring in American games, books, toys, etc. that can serve as visual aids as well as windows into the American people’s ways of life. This unit taught me that there are a number of different tools a teacher can use, and thus it is important to try and use a wide variety from lesson to lesson so that your students stay engaged. Finally, this unit provided a ton of websites to visit that can serve as resources for many different aspects of learning English as a second language. With that said, the most helpful section I thought was the one that gave all the links to websites pertaining to how to teach English. I plan on copying down the names of these sites and visiting them all.
