My first impression of the ESA method is its flexibility. It is not just one method, it is a combination of methods. We could even incorporate some of the different approach in the other methods that were also introduced in this unit at certain phases of ESA. For example, I could see how the CLT or CLL approach could be used to supplement the Activate phase.
The only rigidity that I see in the ESA method is that it will always start with Engage and ends with Activate. This is understandable because in order for the student to be receptive of the lesson they will first need a change of mindset (Engage) and in order to have the lesson somewhat ingrained by the end of the class they will need to put it into practice.
