What I learned in this unit is two things, one is rather odd. I learned that pronunciation is often taken for granted by English speakers and we often sound change things and combine words for ease of use on part of the speaker and not for ease of understanding on the listener. The second thing I learned and it may or may not be applicable here is that phonetic speech is a lot like internet leet speak in the sense that it uses phonetic replacement for syllables and leet speak uses numbers and symbols as replacement letters.
